Meet The Team

The home operates with a high staff to client ratio with a balance of different gender, race, ability and cultural and educational backgrounds to reflect our diverse society.

The organisation places a high emphasis on individual supervision, on-going training and personal development plans, to maintain an experienced and motivated staff team.

Staff are given clear and written information about their roles and responsibilities. They are informed about their duties to follow the relevant legislation that governs working with young people. And they understand the organisational Policies and Procedures they must follow.

They work as part of a team and need to communicate effectively, share ideas, and feel supported by the team. We do this by regular meetings, group supervisions, and training days, and going on social activities together.

Management encourage staff to share examples of good practice at team meetings, and accept recognition for their good work.

All new staff complete an in-house induction before working with the young people. This includes training on ’confidentiality, child abuse and child protection, fire safety, first aid, report writing, racism, sexism, stereotyping, personal prejudices, non-judgmental practice, age appropriateness, teasing, being a role model, supervision and training, and non-confrontational ways of working with violence and aggression.

They work supervised by a senior member of staff for a probationary period, and receive their CWDC training within 2 weeks.

All staff have appraisals and a personal development plan, and undertake continued training and post-qualifying training to the required minimum level Diploma Caring for Children or Young People.
